Alfons Schuhbeck is one of the most famous German top chefs and the author of numerous cookery books.
Born in Traunstein, Upper Bavaria, Alfons Schuchbeck studied at the College of Hotel Management Bad Reichenhall. He learned from Sebastian Schuhbeck, chef of the Kurhausstüberl, and absolved his practical training in Salzburg, Geneva, Paris, London and Munich, before he returned to take over his mentor’s restaurant. There, he was awarded his first Michelin star, followed by the Cook of the Year award in 1989.
Schuhbeck received his second Michelin star in 2003 when he opened his restaurant Südtiroler Stuben in Munich.
Alfons Schuhbeck has published more than 20 books about cooking, including My Bavarian Cookbook (2007), and is a regular guest on German television.
